Upon my first stay in China I was fascinated by the porcelain, friendly people, food culture and richness of cultural heritage.

Against this background two projects were developed.

One of these conceptions planned to redesign the existing idea of table settlement with the pieces that can formally be offered on the tables for consummation. The selection of the pieces recall my own awakening of the ancient fairytales and legends, invokes personal history but also transports cultural identities. Porcelain tabletops intervene the familiar and intimate with the archetypical and Chinese.

I learned a lot and enjoy it. Porcelain was kind and challenging, my curiosity and skills came together and installation work started with “Table of Curiosities” where porcelain and ancient thought meet in contemporary mode.

The second conception performs transfer to another level. The idea of Vase has been transformed into a sign of design relics that are my contemporary portraits. All together they are one installation that is offered to the public to relate, question, motivate or simply please.

As a Serbian woman artist and designer being able to come and work in the origin of organic porcelain and being for 50 days in the spot of the world where everything in porcelain begins is like making traces in world cultural heritage.
